AIN'T IT PECULIAR

Ain’t it peculiar
  The things you do
Ain’t it peculiar
  I’m just like you.

That shiny life God served up
  On a silver platter
We rip apart with both hands
  As if nothing mattered.
And that’s peculiar.
You think you’re mental
  Nobody acts this way
You think you’re mental
  Just nobody will say.

Such behavior
Among humans
Has been observed mainly
In the insane.

It’s a mental problem
  You got that right
We keep going back
  Without a fight.

The peculiar mental twist
Tells our body what to do
When it needs the juice
It squeezes poison fruit
The only cure I’ve found
Is a daily reprieve
Through a power
Greater than me.
