YOU

You
Were
Beautifully insistent
Eyes
Sparkling Irish
Eyes
Staring at
Me
Out over a
Microphone
Saying
You
Wanted
Me
In your life
When I didn't think
Anyone
Would want
Me
Again.

You
Were
Coming up to
Me
When I thought
No one would
Or should
And telling your folks
And telling your friends
All about
Me.

You
Were
Musical talent
Beyond musical talent
Your sounds
Entrancing
Me.

You
Were
All eyes on
Me
When all eyes
Were on
You.

You
Were
Genius-level I.Q.
With a mind
That knew
And saw
Me
Before
I
Knew
And saw
Me.

You
Were
Coincidences and
Serendipities
Like nobody's business
Making me know
There is a
God.

You
Were
A bright hot
Flame
That made me gasp
In your presence
And kept
My hope
Alive.

You
Were
Spiritualized love
As ancient as
The Greeks and
The Romans
But completely
New to
Me.

You
Were
The bright star
The star of Bethlehem
That guided
Me
Out of the
Wilderness.

You
Were
The soul
That rubbed with
Mine
And fixed
Everything
That needed
Fixing.

You
Were
The sun
The moon
The stars
The cosmos
The heavens
The force that drove
Me.

You
Were
The hot
Molten
Butter
At the center
Of my
Universe.

You
Were
The gush
Of tears
As years
Of pain
Of isolation
Of sadness
Of confusion
Left my
Body
When I wrote
My first
Song
Which was
About
You.

You
Are
The reason
I am a poet
A lyricist
A painter
A man who can live
A man who can feel
A man who can
Love.

You
Are
Indescribable
Except through
Poetry.

You
Are
My
Muse.

You
Were
So much to
Me
That I know
There is
No way
Absolutely no way
Absolutely no way under the sun
If I live to be a million years old
That I can ever
Repay
You.
